I was delighted when given the orca Marina L-47 to represent. As an artist, working mainly in clay, I create sculptures relief tiles etc most of the imagery I work with has to do with the ocean & the creatures in it, including mythical ocean goddesses, mermaids, whom I’ve often given the name “Marina “!!! Living on Salt Spring Island, I am also a kayaker & care deeply for our surrounding Salish Sea, we are  interconnected , it’s all sacred, we must protect & preserve, especially the habitat of these majestic Orcas.

Many years ago being extremely upset and moved by the Exon Valdez disaster, I painted this image (also named Marina)!

I thought we had  learned our lesson …….but now….?
